6:25-8:00 PM   How to Get the Heart to Move the Mind –  Connect to Communicate
Whether you are an aspiring speaker, a student, a teacher, a parent, or an activist, voicing your perspective to influence change can be challenging in such polarizing times. Getting people to be receptive to your idea is an art and a science. In this 1 ½ hour intensive workshop, learn to Connect through Vulnerability, Inspire Compassion & Influence Change
The workshop will be presented by Sister Sarah Khan, who  is a Public Speaker & Trainer, leading talks & workshops on various platforms from, The KEY to Effective Communication, The Art of Mindful Living, to Diversity & Inclusion
-This part of the program will take place in the prayer areas

6:25-8:00 PM   Movies night for children and youth.  Inshallah we’ll be showing two movies; one for children younger than 13 years, and the second for the youth (13 years and older).  The movies will be shown in the two steel structures.

Eid Al-Udha Prayer in the Santa Clarita Valley

Alhamdulillah, Eid Al-Udha has been confirmed to be on Friday, September 1, 2017.  On this blessed occasion, we want to wish Muslims allover the world Eid Mubarak, and pray to Allah (SWT) to bless everyone with peace, wellbeing, prosperity, and acceptance of their good deeds.

Inshallah Eid prayer in the Santa Clarita Valley will be held on Friday, September 1, 2017.  The prayer will be in the City of Santa Clarita Activities Center (The CENTRE) located on:
  20880 Centre Ponte Pkwy, Santa Clarita, CA  91350

Al-Umma Center of SCV will be hosting the prayer service  on behalf of all three Santa Clarita Masajid: Islamic Center of SCV, Unity Center, and Al-Umma Center.

In order to accommodate the increasing numbers of the Santa Clarita Valley Muslim Community, Inshallah, we’ll be offering two prayers structured as follows:

First Prayer:

  • Takbeer 7:30 AM to 8:00 AM
  • Salat:  8:00 AM
  • Khutbah: Immediately after Salat and will be finshed by 8:40 AM
  • Khateeb: Br. Syed Rashid

Second Prayer:

  • Takbeer: 9:00 AM – 9:15 AM
  • Salat: 9:15 AM
  • Khutbah: Immediately after Salat and will be finshed by 9:55 AM
  • Khateeb: Br. J. D. Hall

Refreshments:

Inshallah, refreshments will be served in the picnic area located East of the basketball gym (signs pointing to the refreshment station location will be posted). The refreshments will be served after the conclusion of the first Khutbah, and will be served once more after the second Kutbah.

General Information:

  • Accessing the prayer areas will be only through the main entrance of the Activities Center
  • Please bring prayer rugs for you and your family,
  • In the event, we reach the venue capacity in the first prayer, we respectfully request from anyone affected, to please be patient and wait for the second prayer. 
  • We have arranged for a separate room for children, where we plan to offer an entertainment program for them.
  • We request  everyone to please avoid double parking, parking in spots which are not clearly marked for parking, or in the area reserved for City employees.
  • Inshallah we’ll post signs in all areas available for Eid parking.

Friday Prayer on Eid Day (Friday Sept. 1, 2017):

Friday prayer will be held at Al-Umma Center Canyon Country Masjid (18027 Sierra Highway, Canyon Country, CA 91351).  Khutbah will begin at 1:15 PM, and the Khateeb will be Dr. Mostafa Dabbagh

Eid Mubarak

Inshallah, Eid El-Fitr will be on Sunday June 25. 2017.  We wish  Muslims everywhere Eid Mubarak, and pray to Allah (SWT) to bring sorely needed peace and prosperity to everyone, especially to the many Muslims  who have suffered for far too long from wars and opression.

Eid Prayer in the Santa Clarita Valley:

  • When: Sunday June 25, 2017.  Takbeer starts at 7:15 AM, Salat at 8:00 AM,  and Khutbah to follow immediately follow Salat.
  • Where: Hyatt Regency Valencia (Grand Ball Room, 24500 Town Center Dr, Valencia, CA 91355)
  • Khateeb: Dr. Omran Abdeen will lead Salat and deliver Khutbah.
  • Refreshments: Served after Khutbah is concluded.
  • Parking: Available at Hotel parking lot and at nearby shopping mall parking structures. For those who need it, valet parking is available @ a cost of $7.00

Ramadan Mubarak

Assalamu Alaikum

On behalf of everyone at Al-Umma Center of Santa Clarita Valley, we wish the Muslim community in Santa Clarita and the entire Muslim Ummah Ramadan Mubarak.  Based on the ruling of the Fiqh Council of North America, the first day of the blessed month of Ramadan, 1438 A.H, will be Saturday May 27, 2017Inshaallah, the first night of Taraweeh prayers at Alumma Center of Santa Clarita Valley’s Canyon Country Masjid will be on Friday, May 26, 2017, immediately after Isha prayer,  which will start at 9:45 PM.  Sheikh Mostafa, a graduate of Al-Azhar Universty will be leading the Taraweeh prayers.

Inshallah, the daily Iftar program  at the Masjid will start on Saturday, May 27, 2017.  Alhamdulillah, 26 nights of the Iftar program have already been sponsored by the generous families of our great community.  There are only three nights still open for sponsorship: May 30, June 5, and June 23. Anyone interested in sponsoring any of these nights can do so by : signing putting his/her name on the sign-up sheet on the Masjid’s bulletin board, calling (661) 347-8367, or emailing Aucscv@gmail.com. We look forward to having  community members join us for Iftar and Taraweeh prayers every night of this holy month.

The following is the structure of the Ramadan program:

  • Maghrib – 9:10 PM :  Breaking the fast, Salat Al-Maghrib, followed by dinner.
  • 9:10 PM – 9:40 PM :  Qura’n Recitation Halaqa led by Sheikh Mostafa.  Inshallah, during the Halaqa, we’ll recite half Juzuu of Al-Qura’n Al-Kareem
  • 9:45 PM Salat Al Isha
  • Taraweeh Prayers:  Immediately after Salat Al Isha, the Tarwaeeh prayers will begin as follows:
  1. Four Rakaas
  2. Khatira (spiritual message) to be given by Sheikh Mostafa or a guest scholar.    
  3. Four Rakaas
  4. First Witr Prayer
  5. Aditional Rakaas for those who desire to do so.
  6. Second Witr prayer for those who didn’t pray the first Witr.

Inshallah, we’ll be having many night of Qiyam Al Layl, especially during the last ten days of Ramadn.  We’ll be making announcements as to when these nights will be.
